
John DiBiase
Managing DirectorJohn is the founder and Managing Director of Shoreline Consulting. As such, he sets the direction and ensures that Shoreline delivers the pragmatic and commercial outcomes that clients have come to expect from the firm since its inception in 2009.
In addition to the technical expertise garnered over his 26+ years of international experience in the asset and wealth management industry, John has increasingly taken on the role of trusted advisor to the C-level executives of client firms. This not only helps to assure that change programs are successfully delivered and stay true to strategic intent but has also provided senior executives with ongoing insights into the unique dynamics of transformational programs, frequently spelling the difference between success and failure.
John’s expertise spans the asset and wealth management value chain across both operations and technology, having successfully delivered assignments covering investment management front to back office, financial planning & retail distribution, retail investment platforms, product administration, and sales & marketing.
Having assisted dozens of companies globally, he has deep knowledge of Shoreline’s core specialisations of Target Operating Models, IT strategy and architecture, data management and solution selection.
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology in the US, graduating with highest honours. He also holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Portfolio Management from the Securities Institute of Australia.

Bruce Russell
Executive DirectorBruce is a co-founder of Shoreline and has been a management consultant to the investments industry since 2005.
With over 30 years industry experience, Bruce has provided strategic consulting advice to many leading investment organisations in Asia Pacific. His expertise has helped many leading investment organisations optimise their operating models to deliver the best investment outcomes to their investors and members.
Prior to commencing his consulting career, Bruce spent 8 years at HSBC Asset Management in a variety of senior roles across operations, product and business change. He was previously a company auditor and is a qualified Chartered Account with a Bachelor of Commerce from La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. Having spent 10 years in the industry prior to Consulting, he also knows the importance of delivering advice that is practical and implementable.
Bruce has delivered consulting engagements to in excess of 50 organisations, from the largest Asset owners through to boutique investment managers and this experience allows him to provide advice that is right sized for the organisation.

James Baker
Regional Head, AsiaJames leads Shoreline’s business in Asia. He has 30 years’ of financial services experience, including 14 years within the asset management industry.
Prior to joining Shoreline, James worked with Eastspring Investments, Singapore, where he held a number of senior management positions including COO – Investments and Program Director of Eastspring’s Target Operating Model (‘TOM’) program. Previously James was Head of Prime Brokerage, Client Service for Merrill Lynch Hong Kong. He began his career with Morgan Stanley and has also held positions with Bear Stearns Asia (Hong Kong), Nasdaq Japan and Chi-X Singapore.
James has lived and worked in Asia for over 23 years and can speak Mandarin and Japanese.

Angelo Calleja
DirectorAngelo is a Data & Analytics leader at Shoreline. He has a track record of successfully delivering strategic data and technology transformational change in complex environments with a strong commercial and business outcome focus. As a true force-multiplier in all aspects of data and technology, Angelo has proven experience in data and technology strategy, data architecture and engineering. He also has extensive expertise in target operating model and governance model design for a variety of asset owner and manager clients.
Angelo has in excess of 15 years’ experience working across multiple industries in Asia-Pacific with specialist knowledge in the asset, wealth management and pension industries across both operations and technology; covering investment management front to back office for a range of asset classes including alternatives and private equity, financial planning & retail distribution, retail investment platforms, product administration, and sales & marketing.
Angelo is passionate about business building, helping FinTech’s create sustainable value at scale and driving an enduring culture of innovation. He also embraces every opportunity to be involved in meaningful projects which foster social impact and sustainability.
Angelo holds a double Bachelor’s degree in Business (Finance) and Computing Science with Distinction from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Dale Rowley
DirectorDale leads Shoreline’s Operating Model and Product Advisory Services practice areas. Dale has in-depth expertise in the development and delivery of business, product and operations strategy across Australian and Asian markets. His expertise has been honed over 25+ years’ in the investment management, wealth management and pension & superannuation industries in both senior management and consulting roles.Dale’s passion lies in assisting asset and wealth management organisations establish the necessary operating model and product infrastructure to successfully enable and execute their strategy. He has in-depth knowledge of the operations of investment organisations, which is backed by expertise in target operating model design and implementation, and product lifecycle management.
Dale holds an MBA from the Melbourne Business School, a Bachelor of Economics (Monash University), a Diploma of Financial Planning (RMIT) and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from FINSIA.

Carol Penhale
Regional Head, North AmericaCarol is the North American Regional Head at Shoreline, having previously worked with consulting firms such as Cutter, Broadridge Consulting and McKinsey. She has been consulting for over 20 years to financial services firms across asset management, wealth, capital markets and other financial intermediaries. In addition to consulting expertise, Carol has held executive level roles at firms such as Mackenzie Investments, Taliance and DST Systems. Having worked in senior positions in both business and technology roles of financial services, Carol brings a cohesive dialogue, strategic planning and migration blueprint planning approach to firms looking to achieve digital transformation across IT, operations and other business stakeholders while minimizing business risk.
Carol’s experience in business, technology and consulting in both start ups as well as mature and publicly listed firms in her 35 years of experience for financial institutions and vendors to the financial services space brings a unique skill set to operational and data improvements. Carol has assisted many C-level decision makers with strategic business and technology optimization for operations to remain competitive. Ms. Penhale holds a Diploma in Programming and Systems Analysis from The Institute for Computer Studies, a B.A. from the University of Toronto and a Certificate in History from the University of Edinburgh.
